Brazen Berry Heroine

For Brazen Berry Heroine by Stephon Lawrence, participants will be led through Union Square exploring ideas of commodity feminism, where women’s empowerment is gained through consumerism. We will be using performative and poetic techniques to re-define and discover different, free methods of feeling powerful. The group will be taking the appropriated language of girl power out of the advertiser’s hands and replacing them with sayings of our own--one beauty aisle at a time.

This walk holds 12 people and is part of "The Walk as Poem," a course taught by Todd Shalom in the MFA in Writing at Pratt Institute.
