Into the Participatory Walk: A Workshop at MoMA

Into the Participatory Walk by Todd Shalom

Join Elastic City director/founder Todd Shalom in this three-session way on the "participatory walk." Shalom reveals the nuts and bolts of an Elastic City walk, introducing attendees to new ways to read and respond to their surroundings in a collaborative investigation of the everyday. Various techniques from other art forms, including photography, poetry, movement, and sound, will be used to shape and alter perspectives. Technical concerns, such as encouraging participation, forming a compelling narrative, and designing a walk route are also covered. Attendees work in groups to create a participatory walk together, and experience Shalom’s newly commissioned walk for MoMA, “Pipe Dream,” which engages the current exhibition Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926–1938. No previous experience is necessary.

This way is presented by The Museum of Modern Art.

Please note this way takes place over 3 Thursday evenings (November 7, 14 & 21) and one should plan to attend all 3 sessions, as they are not offered individually.
