Skeleton Keys (Llaves Maestras)

Ya casi tenemos encima el Día de Muertos. Es la primera vez que voy a vivirlo en Mexico, y me voy a Janitzio para experimentarlo. Para celebrar y homenajear a aquellos que han muerto, he diseñado un recorrido que celebrará y homenajeará a los vivos, en particular los participantes del recorrido y nuestras relaciones con el otro y nuestro ambiente. Trabajaremos con técnicas de poesia, movimiento y sonido en este recorrido performático alrededor del barrio donde me estoy quedando, Roma Norte.

Day of the Dead is almost upon us. It will be my first time observing it, as I head with friends this coming weekend to Janitzio. In preparing to honor and celebrate those around me who have died, I have designed a walk that will honor and celebrate the living--in particular, fellow walk participants, and our relationships with each other and our surroundings. Techniques from poetry, movement and sound will inform this participatory walk around the neighborhood where I've been staying, Roma Norte.
