Xavier Acarin researches the demand and desire for experience as it manifests in contemporary culture. As an artist, art historian and writer, Xavi has worked with this theme in various forms and practices. His photographic work explores objects as fetish and as violent remains of consumerism that once enclosed our dreams. His M.A. thesis in Museum Studies from New York University analyzes how performance in the museum generates participatory situations and activates affect. These same issues resonate in critical essays published in the art magazine A-desk. Xavi also worked for few years as production manager for Santa Monica Art Center (Barcelona), Site Santa Fe and Creative Time especially in the development of site-specific installations.
