Ben Weber is an artist and educator who makes participant-centered works for audiences of all ages at community sites and public places. His project SMASH TYPE, a living letterpress, has played at the Staten Island Museum (Elastic City), Governors Island (FIGMENT and Children's Museum of the Arts), JCC of Manhattan, University of Southern California, and CUNY's School of Professional Studies. He studied "Theatricality and Taboo" at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study and has a Masters in Applied Theatre from CUNY's School of Professional Studies. Ben has served many NYC organizations as a development professional including The Kitchen, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Film Forum. He currently works as the Education Programs Associate at the New Victory Theater where he designs and implements projects for public engagement. Ben has been a proud collaborator with Elastic City since April 2011 when he and Todd first met in McCarren Park to eat bagels and talk about picnics. He lives in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn.
